Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.
